About Pulsar
At Pulsar, we're on a mission to transform how factories run, using real-time data and AI to make industrial operations smarter and more effective. Pulsar’s hardware and software platform provides real-time factory insights and analytics with a single-visit setup. The company operates in the US, Canada, Mexico and Latam. Backed by leading Silicon Valley venture capital firms and recognized by Stanford University, Pulsar offers a unique opportunity to drive digital transformation in industrial operations.
About the Role
We are seeking an AI Engineer to lead our efforts in computer vision on the edge and agentic / generative AI initiatives. This role is hands-on, highly entrepreneurial, and will directly shape the future of our AI stack—from vision-based factory monitoring systems running on NVIDIA Jetson devices, to intelligent copilots that guide operators and managers with actionable insights.
You will be the technical driver for AI at Pulsar, working directly with our co-founders, a team with deep expertise in industrial software and hardware to design, build, and deploy real-world AI systems in industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Computer Vision at the Edge
- Develop and optimize real-time object detection, tracking, and counting models for edge devices (e.g., Jetson Orin, Raspberry Pi)
- Implement efficient pipelines for on-device inference, data compression, and edge-cloud sync.
- Partner with hardware engineers to ensure models perform reliably in noisy, variable factory conditions
- Generative / Agentic AI
- Build agentic workflows that combine factory data (time-series, relational, unstructured) with LLMs to generate actionable insights and recommendations
- Prototype copilots/assistants that help operators classify events, highlight anomalies, and surface process optimizations
- Stay on top of rapidly evolving LLM, RAG, and agentic architectures—and bring the most pragmatic advances into Pulsar
- Foundational Leadership
- Establish best practices for model training, deployment, and monitoring in a production startup environment
- Mentor engineers as the AI team grows; help set the vision for AI at Pulsar
- Collaborate directly with customers to gather feedback, validate prototypes, and iterate quickly.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- Strong background in computer vision (object detection, tracking, segmentation) and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Familiarity with LLMs and agent frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI APIs, RAG pipelines)
- Solid software engineering skills: Python preferred (CUDA is a plus); comfort with cloud and containerized deployments (Docker, AWS, etc.)
- Bias for action: can move fast, ship MVPs, and refine later
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and learning new stacks as needed
- Strong communication skills—able to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
